REALITY AVE: The Cast Of ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Refuse To Film; Demand More Money From VH1

LHHNY

It appears that the some of the cast members from Love & Hip Hop New York have gone on strike against VH1 and are refusing to start filming unless changes are made to their contracts.  The main thing they’re after is more money.

According to TMZ, only half of the cast members showed up at a shoot that was scheduled to film the trailer for the next season.  They allegedly won’t continue filming until they receive more money and they are also requesting more creative control on the show.  Apparently, some of them aren’t too happy about how they were previously portrayed.

It’s reported that emergency meetings have been scheduled to try to mediate and reach an agreement between the network and the reality stars.

I don’t know how much the cast currently makes, but I do know that the last season of Love & Hip Hop New York had lower ratings than previous seasons, so I’m not sure what they are going to use as their negotiating power.  I could justify increasing salaries if ratings went up, but they didn’t.  And let’s just be honest, I don’t think it would be hard for ALL of them to be replaced.  I’m sure VH1 has people lined up at their doors for a chance to be on one of these reality shows.  So they should tread lightly.

As far as the creative control goes, I think they should let that go.  It’s funny how during filming no one is thinking about how their actions are going to look on screen once the show airs, but they do the dirt and collect their money and keep it moving.

I’m sorry, but I honestly don’t sympathize with them on this one.
