Michelle Obama and Beyonce

Forbes has just released their list of “The World’s Most Powerful Women of 2013,” and it’s no surprise that Beyonce and First Lady Michelle Obama made the cut.

Michelle Obama scored a spot in the top 10, taking the No. 4 spot on the list. Former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, followed Michelle Obama and took the No. 5 spot.  Billionaire Oprah Winfrey also made the list at No. 13.

Our favorite superstar Beyonce ranked at #17.  This a major accomplishment for Beyonce to make a list full of female chancellors, queens, presidents, CEO’s and government officials.  She wasn’t the only entertainer to score a spot on the list.  Actress Sofia Vegara came in at No. 38.

So who took the No. 1 spot?  German Chancellor Angela Merkel comes in at No. 1 for the eighth time in the last 10 years.  She became Germany’s first female chancellor in 2005.

Moria Forbes is the president and publisher of Forbes Woman.  She says, “This year’s Power Women exert influence in very different ways, and to very different ends, and all with very different impacts on the global community.
