3 Women Rescued By Charles Ramsey After Being Kidnapped 10 Years Ago

Amanda Berry Charles Ramsey

Three women were kidnapped in Ohio a decade ago. Amanda Berry went missing on April 21, 2003 at the age of 16. Gina DeJesus disappeared a year later at 14 on her way home from school.  And conflicting reports show that Michele Knight went missing in either 1990 or 2002 at the age of 20.

Three brothers, Ariel Castro, Pedro Castro, and Onil Castro were arrested for their connection to the kidnapping and abuse that these women suffered. However, charges were eventually dropped against Pedro and Onil Castro, but they are still being held for questioning.  Ariel Castro is being arraigned today on four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape.

The three victims were held captive in a home on Seymour Avenue in Cleveland for 10 years. Amanda Berry even birthed a child during the last 10 years and DNA tests are being ran to determine who the father of the child is. Of course it is assumed that it is Ariel Castro.

A neighbor to the property in Cleveland was key in the girl’s being found. Charles Ramsey was home when he said he heard a woman screaming. He ran from his home, holding his McDonald’s Big Mac, and kicked down the door to help free Amanda Berry.

In his interview, Ramsey said he knew his neighbor pretty well and had even attended a bbq at his home, but had no idea he was keeping women in his home against their will.

“He just comes out to his backyard, plays with the dogs, tinkers with his cars and motorcycles, goes back in the house. So he’s somebody you look, then look away. He’s not doing anything but the average stuff. You see what I’m saying? There’s nothing exciting about him. Well, until today.”

His heroic efforts and his initial interview have garnered Ramsey national attention. His high-spirited commentary reportedly has McDonald’s headed his way to set up an endorsement deal. You Tube already has a ton of “remix” videos up and his original clip has gone viral.

There’s no way to imagine what these girls have gone through.  Luckily, Charles Ramsey was in the right place at the right time and was able to assist the women with getting to safety.
