NEW MUSIC: Big Sean ft. Common – “Switch Up”

Big Sean Switch Up

Detroit rapper Big Sean dropped his new single “Switch  Up” yesterday (Apr. 5) on his website.  Featured on the track is fellow G.O.O.D Music heavyweight Common.

Both MC’s go hard on the new track that’s about switching up cars and girls but not switching teams.  Big Sean is obviously loyal to Kanye West, G.O.O.D Music team, and his crew. He raps on the track:

“I seen cars switch up, seen hoes switch up/ Seen money all switch up, when the days get dimmer/ Who gonna leave you there and who gonna leave with ya/ This for the ones that’s always ridin’ with ya, ain’t switch.”

Surprisingly, Common does a 180 and veers away from his usually uplifting flow on this track:

“Oooww I’m in my mode today/ Sayin’ what the f*** I’m supposed to say.”

The track was coincidentally released just three days after Kid Cudi announced that he was leaving G.O.O.D Music.  Kid Cudi stated that the split was peaceful and there were no issues.  Big Sean told Power 106 radio station in LA that there was no love lost between him and Kid Cudi and that his new track “Switch Up” isn’t about him.  He told the radio station:

“Cudi wasn’t just my labelmate, he’s one of my good friends. Cudi’s on my album. Me and him making music together. We’re still crew whether it’s G.O.O.D. Music or not, that’s my dog.”

“Switch Up” is featured on Big Sean’s upcoming sophomore album Hall of Fame which will be released later this year.
