MAGAZINE MASH-UP: NICKI MINAJ GETS A MAKEUNDER FOR ELLE & BEYONCE IS BIKINI READY FOR SHAPE

Nicki Minaj & Beyonce

With her new gig as a judge on American Idol, Nicki Minaj is stepping her game up in more ways than one.

I must admit, that ever since Nicki Minaj has toned down her look, I think she’s so much more attractive.  The colorful wigs and clothes were starting to get a bit weird.

She’s featured on the cover of Elle Magazine, for the second time, for their April 2013 issue.  For the issue, she toned her look down even more and appears on the cover very natural.  In the issue she discusses ditching the pink lipstick for the cover and feeling vulnerable about it.  She also talks about being bullied as a child and her plans for world domination.  Check it out below:

On toning it down for Elle:

“When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I’m so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it’s hard. I feel that it’s become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes— you know, nothing— I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”

On being bullied as a child:

“I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I’ve always put up this wall— it was a self-defense mechanism growing up— because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It’s sad.”

Her plans for world domination:

“My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I’m thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination— in terms of providing for my family— is absolutely my goal.”

Her advice for women:

“My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That’s what it’s all about.”

In other magazine news…

I can never get enough of Beyonce!  She’s featured on next month’s issue of Shape Magazine for the first time.  In the issue, she discusses how she managed to drop 57 pounds of baby weight and that dancing is how she stays in shape:

“I gained 57 pounds when I was pregnant. I didn’t have a lot of time to lose the weight because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I will never do again. I’m not a person that is naturally very thin, I am a person who has to work to keep my body in shape.”

“For me, dancing is what keeps me active and I would just say everyone is not meant to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you you.”
