Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys and John Legend

The 2013 NBA All-Star Game was held last night.  The West beat out the East for the fourth time straight.

In other game news, Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo both performed during the game and I must say, I wasn’t impressed.  Ne-Yo took to the stage first and performed during the announcement of the players.  I would imagine that should be the most exciting part of the show, but unfortunately, it wasn’t.

The only part of the performance that had my attention was the breakdown he did during the first song when he mixed in a little Janet Jackson “I Get Lonely.”  Other than that, it was pretty boring.

Then it was halftime and it was time for Alicia Keys to perform.  Let me just say this… Alicia, stay behind the piano!! I understand that singers need to evolve to stay relevant, but stick to what you’re good at and that’s playing the piano.  I also understand that your normal slow jams wouldn’t cut here.  However, that would’ve been better than what we got.  Alicia’s voice was shot and her dance steps were very mediocre.  I think the dance steps had to be simple just so she could keep up.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Alicia and Ne-Yo, but they totally missed the mark last night.  See for yourself below and you be the judge:

Random Sidenote: Why would Alicia Keys perform “Empire State of Mind” (a song about New York) when you’re in Houston?!

See what some people had to say on Twitter… Their reactions were pretty unanimous.  See below:
