TOP 5: MOST ANTICIPATED R&B ALBUMS OF 2013

Beyonce Tamar Braxton

So far 2013 is off to a good start in music.  We’ve received new music from Justin Timberlake and even a new song from girl group Destiny’s Child.  So I decided to compile a list of the albums that I can’t wait to be released.  There are so many great artist set to release a new album this year, but I’m just focusing on the R&B genre.  I love R&B and I’m glad it’s finally starting to make a comeback with artist like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd.  Even Beyonce’s last album “4” had some R&B hits on it like “Love on Top” and “Dance For You.”

So here it is:

5. Fantasia – The last few years have been rough for Fantasia, but she is back and ready to put out a new album.  Her last album Back To Me was released in 2010 and had the hit single “Bittersweet” which one Fantasia her first Grammy.  I have always been a fan of Fantasia’s soulful voice.  Earlier this month, she released her new single “Lose to Win” which will be featured on her upcoming album The Side Effects of You.  The album is scheduled to be released on March 13th.

4. Ciara – So am I the only one hoping that Ciara’s next album will be a good one?  Ciara’s last two albums, Fantasy Ride and Basic Instinct, weren’t very successful.  In my opinion, it all went wrong when she tried to crossover to pop music and I think she knows it.  It looks like Ciara is going back to her R&B roots for her upcoming album One Woman Army.  The first single “Sorry” was a hit on R&B charts.  There is no official release date for One Woman Army, but we can expect it to drop this spring.

3. Justin Timberlake – Okay so you may be thinking that JT isn’t R&B, but with the release of his new song “Suit & Tie,” I’m convinced that his next album will feature more R&B songs than pop music.  JT told the fans that the music on his new album was inspired from the music he grew up listening to.  If you’re a true R&B fan, you know he grew up listening to old school R&B.  The new album is titled The 20/20 Experience and is scheduled to be released on March 19th.

2. Tamar Braxton – If you have been keeping up with Tamar on her reality shows “Braxton Family Values” and “Tamar & Vince” you know that she has been working on her second studio album for quite some time.  Well it’s release is almost here.  Tamar dropped her first single “Love and War” early last month and it was a hit.  “Love and War” was #1 on iTunes charts just 12 hours after it was released.  On her reality show, we’ve seen her recording other tracks like “Hot Sugar” and “Get Yo Life.”  If these end up on the album, it will be the bomb.com.  Tamar’s new album titled Love and War was scheduled to be released in February but was recently pushed back to the first week in March.

1. Beyonce – Who else would be number one?  Of course the most anticipated album of the year is Beyonce’s album.  Beyonce has been busy this year and it’s only January.  She’s been prepping for her upcoming Super Bowl performance and it’s been rumored that she will premiere a new song from her upcoming album during the half-time show.  It’s also rumored that she’s been collaborating with other artists such as: Miguel, The-Dream, Justin Timberlake, Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo and Pharrell Williams.  This will be Beyonce’s fifth studio album as a solo artist and is expected to be released sometime in April.

I agree with all your choices!! But something is telling me that JT will disappoint. His last album was soooooooo amazing. I just don’t see how he can top it.

  2. well its not an album yet but most anticipated artist has to be Trevor Jackson. He recently released a song on YouTube and its so catchy. It gives off a Neyo and Chris Brown vibe. He is only 16 and i forecast success for him.
